Beaches & Water

St. Lucie County's 21 miles of Atlantic coastline run from well-developed beach parks to quiet, uncrowded stretches. Fort Pierce Inlet State Park anchors the north end of the county's barrier island, offering swimming, surfing, and one of the most scenic ocean inlets on the east coast. South Beach in Fort Pierce is the local favorite: wide, well-maintained, and far less crowded than beaches further south.

Pepper Beach offers a quieter north-facing stretch popular with families and snorkelers. Blind Creek Beach is one of the few remaining clothing-optional beaches in Florida. Just south in Martin County, Jensen Beach offers an upscale beach town feel with good dining steps from the sand. For surfers, Sebastian Inlet State Park, roughly 20 minutes north in Brevard County, is widely regarded as the best surf break on Florida's east coast.

Boating & Fishing

The Treasure Coast has earned a genuine international reputation for fishing. St. Lucie County sits at its heart. Fort Pierce City Marina offers full-service boat storage, fuel, and ocean access via Fort Pierce Inlet, widely considered the most reliable inlet on Florida's east coast for offshore passage. The Port St. Lucie Civic Center provides a public boat ramp on the South Fork of the St. Lucie River.

The Indian River Lagoon runs the length of the Treasure Coast and widens through St. Lucie County. It is a legendary backcountry fishing destination. Snook, redfish, tarpon, and spotted seatrout are all present year-round. Snook here reach sizes rarely seen elsewhere on the Florida coast. Offshore out of Fort Pierce Inlet, the Gulf Stream runs surprisingly close. Mahi, kingfish, grouper, amberjack, and sailfish are all accessible on a day trip. Fort Pierce has a long history in the sailfish tournament circuit. Multiple marinas, bait shops, and charter services operate year-round.

Golf

St. Lucie County has more than 11 courses county-wide and two of Florida's most recognized golf communities. PGA Village, operated by the PGA of America, offers 36 holes on three championship layouts: the Wanamaker, Ryder, and Dye courses. The facility is open to residents of PGA Village communities and the public. Residents get preferred access and rates.

Tradition Golf Club is a well-regarded layout built into the Tradition master-planned community. St. Lucie Trail Golf Club, Club Med Sandpiper Bay, and Kings Isle Country Club round out the county's main public and semi-private options. For buyers seeking to live on or near a course, PGA Village Verano is the top address. Tradition, St. Lucie West, and Kings Isle also offer golf community living at various price points.

Sports

New York Mets spring training at Clover Park is a real draw for baseball fans. February and March bring a packed schedule of exhibition games. Clover Park is one of the nicer Grapefruit League facilities in Florida. The stadium seats roughly 7,000 and offers an intimate, old-school spring training feel. The affiliated minor league team, the St. Lucie Mets, plays an April through August season at the same facility.

The Port St. Lucie Civic Center aquatics complex offers competitive swimming facilities open to the public. Youth sports are organized through the city's extensive parks and recreation network, with fields and facilities throughout the county.

Parks & Nature

Savannas Preserve State Park is one of St. Lucie County's most underrated assets. It covers 4,600 acres of rare Florida inland scrub and freshwater marshes running along the western edge of the barrier island. The park offers kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and wildlife watching in an ecosystem that has largely disappeared elsewhere in coastal Florida. Scrub-jays, gopher tortoises, and native orchids all live here.

Oxbow Eco-Center sits on the banks of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. It offers environmental education programs, nature trails, and canoe/kayak launches into the river system. Fort Pierce Inlet State Park combines beach access with a rugged inlet environment. The Indian River Lagoon Scenic Highway traces the lagoon's edge and provides access points for kayakers and paddleboarders. Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, affiliated with Florida Atlantic University, conducts marine research in the county and offers educational programs to the public.

Dining & Culture

Downtown Fort Pierce's waterfront dining district has become one of the Treasure Coast's best restaurant scenes. Fisherman's Wharf offers fresh seafood in an open-air marina setting. Pelican Wine & Cheese is a local wine bar and charcuterie stop. Cobb's Landing has been a Fort Pierce waterfront staple for years, with casual dockside dining and live music. The Saturday Fort Pierce Downtown Market is a year-round farmers' market with local produce, artisan goods, and food vendors.

The Sunrise Theatre is a restored 1920s vaudeville house in downtown Fort Pierce. It hosts national touring acts, Broadway shows, comedy, and local performing arts year-round. Port St. Lucie has a more chain-heavy dining and retail landscape. Local restaurants have grown throughout the Tradition Town Center area. A handful of good independently owned restaurants also operate on the Port St. Lucie Boulevard corridor.

Shopping

Tradition Town Center is the county's most distinctive shopping destination. It is an open-air lifestyle center at the heart of the Tradition master-planned community with a mix of retail, restaurants, and event space on walkable streets and public plazas. The Port St. Lucie Boulevard corridor covers the county's full range of big-box retail, grocery options, and national chains. For a traditional mall experience, Treasure Coast Square in Stuart, roughly 20 minutes south in Martin County, is the region's primary enclosed mall, anchored by major department stores.

Healthcare

St. Lucie County has seen real healthcare investment in recent years. Cleveland Clinic Martin South Hospital sits within the Tradition community and serves the western parts of the county with a full-service hospital and medical campus. That makes it a strong draw for residents of Tradition, Riverland, and PGA Village Verano. Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and St. Lucie Medical Center serve the broader county. The county's medical network includes dozens of specialist practices, urgent care facilities, and outpatient centers throughout the main population centers.

Schools

St. Lucie County Public Schools operates 40+ schools across the county and serves approximately 40,000 students. Several elementary and middle schools in Tradition and Port St. Lucie have received strong performance ratings in recent years. Multiple charter school options operate within the county. Several private and faith-based schools serve families who prefer alternatives to the public system.
